As April 1st approaches, many of our neighbors will be forced out of temporary motel placements and back into unsheltered homelessness. Our Street Outreach Team is preparing for another difficult season of crisis response, helping people who are suddenly outside with the basic supplies needed to stay safe and connected to care.
Good Samaritan Haven’s outreach staff, including an outreach worker, crisis interventionist, and peer support, are anticipating the need to serve as many as 220 people living unsheltered across Washington County, a number that continues to rise. This work is essential as shelter beds remain limited and many people are left with no safe place to go.
After one of the coldest winters on record, our supply of tents, sleeping bags, tarps, and other survival gear is running low just as need is expected to increase. Our outreach team also relies on basic necessities like water, food, sanitation items, batteries, first aid supplies, and flexible food access cards to meet people where they are and respond quickly in emergencies.
Your gift helps keep our neighbors safer, warmer, and more connected during a time of uncertainty. We are deeply grateful for your generosity, which allows us to meet immediate needs while continuing to advocate for long-term housing solutions. Thank you for supporting our neighbors who are facing life outside this spring.
