Dear Friends,
There are more than 400 adults and children living in shelters, motels, and outdoors in Washington County.
Here are just a few examples of the vulnerable, isolated, and disconnected in our community:
- A woman in a green knit hat (she’s not yet ready to share her name with our outreach team)
who lives under a tarp near the river. - Josh, Marilyn, Ed, and many others living in motel rooms who are food-insecure and don’t have
a way to prepare adequate meals; and - Peter, an older man with dementia who arrived in Montpelier by bus with just a few dollars in
his pocket and nowhere to go.
People come to Good Sam with only the clothes on their backs and a bag or two of possessions. They may also be
carrying the burden of unattended physical or mental health conditions, substance use issues, trauma, cognitive
impairment, and loneliness. With your help, Good Sam staff provide vital resources and care when people need it
most.
Making connections, preventing loneliness, reducing stigma—we can each help make a difference—one meal,
one conversation, one action, one gift at a time.
You are a vital part of the tapestry of hope for those without shelter in our community.
Your gift to Good Samaritan Haven will make an immediate impact. Please donate today!
With deep appreciation,
Rick DeAngelis and Julie Bond
