Stories of Success: Patty’s Story

Patti is a kind and generous woman. She loves animals and cared deeply about her fellow guests at Good Sam. Patty has mental and physical disabilities, but was always ready to lend a helping hand. During her time in the Emergency Shelter Program she painted the porch and the dining room!

Patty moved on to stable housing with the help of Washington County Mental Health’s Shelter Plus Care Program (S+C). S+C is designed to assist homeless, disabled people live in safe, affordable permanent housing, maintain residential stability, increase life skills, obtain greater self-sufficiency and advance the goals of ending chronic homelessness. Patty is a success story not just because she is now stably housed, but also because of her positive outlook and drive to help others…even when she was in the midst of a crisis herself.
