Job Title: Director of Operations – Full time exempt position

Reports to: Executive Director

Job Purpose:
The Director of Operations will play a leadership role with the Executive Director in guiding and operating Good Samaritan Haven (GSH) as we work to meet the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness in Central Vermont. They will direct and maintain internal operations including staffing, facility, and virtual resources. Specific job duties include: hiring and supervising program managers; identifying and organizing training needs for all staff; managing human resource procedures; monitoring the operation of facilities, and directing the use of technology.

Duties and Responsibilities:
● Build and support a team and organizational culture that provides high quality services to people experiencing homelessness in Central Vermont
● Hire, train, and supervise program managers
● Support a learning environment for all employees that encourages professional growth and effective individual and team performance
● Identify gaps in services and work with the Executive Director to fill them
● Maintain compliance with human resource laws and regulations
● Develop communication systems and teamwork at each program site and between sites
● Track and analyze program and financial outcomes to improve GSH’s effectiveness and financial performance
● Monitor the operation of facilities, including related supply, equipment, and third-party vendor needs
● Manage technology needs with IT contractor
● Become familiar with external partners and participate in community partnerships as needed

Qualifications:
● Experience working with a non-profit organization
● Demonstrated writing and communications skills
● Strong time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines
● Demonstrated ability to communicate and work well with staff, board members, and volunteers
● Must be self-motivated and capable of motivating others
● Commitment to GSH’s mission to provide emergency shelter and support services, stability, safety, and hope for people experiencing homelessness

Skills and Abilities:
● Strong people and leadership skills including supervision of employees
● Ability to actively listen, negotiate, and find solutions to challenges
● Knowledge of human resource procedures and requirements or willingness to learn
● Comfortable working with spreadsheets and databases to track financial and program performance
● Experience with or knowledge of best practices in serving people experiencing homelessness

Position Details:
This is a full-time position. A new office location will be established in 2022. Prior to then, a mix of office and remote work will be required. Salary range $50,000 – $60,000, depending on experience and demonstrated skills. Health care and other benefits are provided.

Job Title:  Housing Case Manager

Reports To:  Senior Housing Case Manager

Job Purpose:
The Housing Case Manager plays an essential role in helping Good Samaritan Haven (GSH) guests. Within three days of a guest’s arrival at one of our shelters, the Housing Case Manager will meet with the individual to help them identify life priorities and develop a plan for achieving the priorities. The plan will emphasize housing and support needs for the guest to live successfully in the community. The Housing Case Manager will continue to foster a productive working relationship with the guest to help them achieve their goals for the length of their stay with GSH.

Duties and Responsibilities:
● Provide holistic case management services which include but are not limited to: intake, coordinated entry assessment, benefit referrals, assisting guests with housing applications, developing long- and short-term goals with clients, progress monitoring and, advocacy as necessary.
● Create Individual Service Plan with clients to address their permanent housing needs. Work closely with clients to support them in obtaining mainstream benefits, building basic skills, addressing barriers, and engaging in services.
● Create and maintain client files that will include: intake documents, release of information, Coordinated Entry Assessments, ongoing case notes, house rules, and copies of emails to/from community partners. Document and maintain up-to-date information on provided services and funds spent.
● Assist in locating and securing affordable housing, supportive services, and employment opportunities.
● Build and maintain positive working relationships with landlords and housing authorities at both state and local levels, not-for-profit housing agencies, and others who can provide stable permanent housing and services for the people we serve.
● Attend weekly housing review team meetings with local partners and coordinate team meetings with others working with our clients.
● Participate in regular check-ins and supervisory sessions with the Senior Housing Case Manager to review the work, discuss assistance needed, and identify priorities.
● Perform other related work as directed, such as documentation of client records, administrative work, scheduling, and regular communication with team members.

Skills and Abilities Required and/or Desired:
● Desire to help others
● Strong interpersonal skills
● Demonstrated writing and communication skills
● Demonstrated organizational skills (time management, attention to detail, self-motivation, use of technology, etc.)
● Knowledge of and/or prior employment experience with Vermont’s system of social services is desired.

Position Details:
This is a full-time position. A new office location will be established in 2022. Prior to then, a mix of office and remote work will be required. Salary range $38,000 – $42,000, depending on experience and demonstrated skills. Health care and other benefits are provided.
