The shelter has a few rules pertaining to cleanliness and manners. It’s a peaceful place because people respect each other and the opportunity to have shelter.
Each evening is supervised by a volunteer who has a private room, and dinner is brought in by cook volunteers. Guests eat, clear the tables and have a quiet evening of talk, books or television. Many use the laundry facilities, or choose from the free clothing offered.
In 2009, we served over 4,500 meals, provided support services, hope and opportunity to over 325 people and assisted more than 75 people in obtaining or remaining in affordable housing. It’s easy to be a "Good Samaritan" in Central Vermont.
We have an executive director and staff, as well as a volunteer board of directors.
